Great cross country trails. Well groomed. Beautiful nature and frozen lake. Friendly service and most excellent pizza.

First time xcountry skiing. I'm hooked--especially if all trails and vistas are like Dog Creek Lodge! Ponderosa pines, frozen dog lake and incredible view of Montana's mountains. Cozy cafe w/ tasty food and coffee. Rent your gear from the owners Maureen and Bill and hangout in their cozy cafe pre and/or post skiing where they whip up tasty pizzas and espresso drinks. You don't get much nicer than this duo and their breathtaking trails.

20 Kilometers of picturesque XCountry trails on 80 acres of private land and state forest, amazing views of mountains, ski through meadows and forest, and across a frozen lake on green, blue and black level trails groomed regularly. We had an amazing wood-fire pizza with fresh toppings and tasty house-made crust and sauce, chased with hot coffee-bar beverages - made-to-order mocha lattes, hot chocolate, espresso etc. - between morning and afternoon trail runs. Breakfast baked goods also available. Pristine rental equipment and excellent personalized service by husband-and-wife team who live on the property. Competitive rates, some of which go to support the state park / local schools. They have lodging, including a large facility suitable for reunions, etc., which we hope to check out on our next visit. Discovered this mid-vacation to Whitefish for downhill skiing, and had to go back for a second day with more family members who had never cross-country skied but were able to find their groove right away on these well maintained trails.
